Artiste Watch – Hanz Solo
September 4, 2009, 2:48 am
Filed under: Hanz Solo, New Artiste

Hanzsolo is a true New York boy, raised in a true New York melting pot background; coming from a Middle-Eastern family with 5 brothers and 3 sisters. He speaks a Brooklyn slang that spells swagger and represents for the city he has called his home for 26 years.

Hanz’s involvement in music began as early as 1998, then just a young boy with big dreams, he worked for Michael Fredo (Tommy Hilfigers nephew) who was then signed to Warner Brothers and supplied melodies and productions to a selection of young artists. One of his projects even developed with the legendary Slick Rick and being produced by Kenny Dope. This song sold no less then 20,000 units and made him commit even more to his calling.

With a trip to London, along with this very project and an opening slot for Kanye West, everything seemed to fall into place, when the artist Hanzsolo was working with suddenly decided to quit. Having learned the hard way that a team always meant being dependant on another persons wants and needs, he decided to go solo and find his very own sound. For the past months he has been working on an album, released a single independently and generated interest from one of the hottest labels in Europe with his unique mix of hiphop, dance and electronica aptly called “hip-tronic” by the man himself.

Don’t be caught out cold without one of these…

Its is coming towards that time when it gets slightly chilly and you really don’t want to raid the cupboard for the big ass jackets. What better way than to hook yourself up with a nice sweater. A man’s sweater says a lot about you. From the rude boy stripy sweater, to the boring grey sweater there is a sweater out there waiting for you. So I picked up a couple of sweaters from the new Urban Outfitters collection. The first is my favourite.
.

The best choice: Junk De Luxe Ben Sweater
£89.00

Super soft long sleeve sweater by Junk De Luxe features quilted hood and brushed cotton lining; finished with button neckline and two button detail pockets at the hips.

Junk De Luxe Malcolm Shawl Cardigan
£110.00

Super soft and cosy cardigan by Junk De Luxe features wide rib knit shawl collar with double breasted button closure; finished with two button detail pockets at the hips.

This 100 percent merino wool Svensson Spot Knit Crew is only £90.00. Love it for its simplicity. Perfectly for the classy guy.

Textured crew neck knit in Merino wool from Svensson complete with rib knit cuffs and hem.

BDG Ashe Tennis Cardigan
£49.00

Go for the preppy look in this cable knit button front cardigan from BDG with contrasting colour trim at neckline and cuffs.

The Bargain item – Junk De Luxe Neil V-Neck Knit
Was £69.00
Now £19.99
Brighten up an otherwise plain V-neck sweater with this super soft lightweight number with bright contrast tipped detail at the neckline; finished with embroidered logo at the chest as well as rib knit hem and cuffs.

Slow news day, checking up on naija record label websites to see what is up. Some still don’t know how to update their websites – as usual. Storm 360 – I love the name, sounds like they about to RocNation the naij entertainment scene- seems on point so I took the above screen shot of their current artiste roster. Not a bad line up, I reckon they could do with one more person. Who would you guys like to see added to the new improved Storm.

Jay Z: Live at The ROUNDHOUSE LONDON – 17/09/2009

Filed under: Hip Hop Post, Jay Z

That’s right, Jay is going to be in town on the 17th of September performing at The ROundhouse in Camden. I guess the Blueprint 3 rollover has already begun. I highly recommend The Blueprint 3 album. It is chainless. Below you shall find details for the concert. It would cost 50 pounds upwards. A bit steep but someone has gotta pay for the champagne and Patron that Jay talks about in his Ghetto Techno song on The Blueprint 3. Sadly I shall still be here in India.

P Square – Danger
September 2, 2009, 8:14 am
Filed under: Naij Audio, P Square

By now you have probably had a P Square stan call you shouting “You heard that P Square jam yet? – just before you say no- they sayIts tewww maddd” If not you are lucky you have no such friends. This is what I call a face value song. Don’t think too much about it else you end up resenting P Square for cranking out yet another face value song a la “do me” style. Face Value = Quick club banger, catchy, sweet, repetitive and repetitive. Now follow me and sing “see danger danger danger, wahala dey, see danger…” You catch the drift…Alright song to kick off their new album campaign. I expect the catchy “Ifunaya” type to come soon.
